Newtown’s Ladywell Shopping Centre has been sold to an award-winning Mid Wales company which has exciting plans for the town centre site.
Evabuild Ltd has completed the purchase of the substantial retail building and site, which offers scope for future redevelopment.
The total site area, pictured, which includes a large pay and display public car park, extends to just over one acre and is situated within walking distance of the main High Street area of Newtown and the town’s railway station.
It also benefits from rental income from the tenants of the small retail units next to the main building.
Evabuild Ltd, founded in 2011, are an award-winning construction company which covers England and Wales, providing high quality civil engineering, construction and groundworks.
Directors Nick Evans and Dan Jones said: “As a local company based in Newtown, we are both proud and delighted to have purchased the Ladywell Shopping Centre. This provides us with an exciting opportunity to regenerate an important part of the town centre."
Toby Shaw, who handled the sale for Towler Shaw Roberts, added: “We have not only sold the shopping centre, but also the adjoining shop units to Evabuild Ltd.
“The site stimulated a lot of interest, but it was always likely that it was going to be sold to a local buyer.
“It’s a significant sale and the site comprises a former supermarket building, a public car park and a range of shops that are all let.”
“The Ladywell Shopping Centre is right in the centre of Newtown and it shows the confidence that people have in this area. We are pleased to have been retained by Evabuild Ltd to continue the management and lettings of the site’s properties.”
The property was sold for an undisclosed sum.
